Shells of Curaçao

Detail of a Triton trumpet

The generous donation of a wonderful shell collection by the van Eenennaam family became the start of a scientific reference collection of shells. Part of this collection is on display, allowing a rare peak into the beauty and wonders of this group of marine fauna. Several of the specimens on display are really rare in the sense that specimens of such sizes can not be found anymore, mainly because of over-exploitation by private shell collectors.
