Opening night of the Museum of Natural History Curaçao
19-2-19 : a beautiful date for the museum on a beautiful starry night with the milky light reflected on the Super Full Moon. On this night we officially opened the new Museum of Natural History Curaçao – Museo di Historia Natural di Kòrsou for family, friends and sponsors of the museum. Opening words by the president of Curacao Footprint Foundation and co-founder of the museum Michelle Da Costa Gomez, Representative of the Henriquez family of the Bloemhof Estate Mrs. Nicole Henriquez and director of the CFF en co-founder of the museum Leon Pors.
We went back billions of years in the history of the Earth and millions of years in the history of Curacao before honoring all the people who supported the museum is all aspects of its development.
And then it was time for the traditional opening by cutting a symbolic piece of paper on the front door by our youngest museum assistant Yalena Pors, together with representatives of Landhuis Bloemhof Mrs. Nicole Henriquez and Mrs. Elodie Heloise.
It was beautiful, symbolic, honest and clean.
With many thanks to team members Arindah Thissen-Rojer, Cisca Rusch-deLijster and Achim Henriquez for all the help and to Mrs. Vanessa Venturini for the assistance with F&B and moral support.
And of course to Karel Willems and Cisca Rusch-deLijster for all these beautiful pictures!
Museum of Natural History Curaçao in preparation
Soon the Museum of Natural History Curaçao will open it´s doors to the public. In this museum you´ll be able to discover the amazing geological history of our Island. You´ll also get a peek at the unique biodiversity of Curaçao, a small oceanic Island on which lots of natural elements evolved into endemic species, which means you´ll only find such species on our Island (or maybe Bonaire and Aruba as well) but nowhere else in the world.
Stay tuned!
